It feels like everything happens in Fall. The summer heat cools down, sports start up, the leaves change, and every weekend is packed with activities. There is always so much to do in Atlanta, but Atlanta is bursting with things to do in the Fall. September through early November is the peak time to enjoy all there is to offer.
Apple picking season starts in Mind-August and lasts through October. You may want to time your visit with your favorite apples. Some orchards post a calendar of what’s available, while others tell you when you get there. The Orchards below have more than just apple picking, making it a perfect fall activity for families just outside of Atlanta. I always suggest getting there first thing in the morning if you can for the best weather and smallest crowds.
Pumpkin patches are another great Atlanta Fall Activity for families with kids of all ages. Most of these have a tractor ride, maze, sweet treats, and other activities like petting zoos and slides. While pumpkins are much cheaper at your local grocery store, this is definitely a core memory activity and something worth adding to your schedule.
We have a weekly movie night with out kids (age 4 and 6) and it is so much fun. We do popcorn and pizza, but love the idea of having a theme meal. This is a great activity for the unpredictable Fall weather, when you have kids home sick (inevitable), or when you just don’t have the energy to run around anymore. Most of these movies are for older toddler and up, and always use your judgement as kids all find different things scary.
If you have any memberships to Atlanta attractions, be sure to check what special events they have going on! Most seasonal activities are included with your membership, so definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for Atlanta Fall activites. Most events are date specific, so be sure to plan ahead and add it to your calendar. We also love spending some time in the mountains and making it a long weekend trip.
If you’re looking to lay low, there’s plenty to do at home! Fall activities in Atlanta don’t have to be about going out (and spending money). There are so many cozy things to do at home to celebrate the season. Invite friends and family over and make it a day of fun and bonding.
A lot of cities and churches host a trunk or treat. We love them because they let the kids use their costume more than once. Most Trunk or Treat events are free and during the day – prefect if you have little who can’t stay up late enough for Halloween Trick or Treating. These are usually announced mid-September and run on weekends in October.
Of course you can’t forget family photos!! Spring and Fall are ideal for getting those updated family photos in a beautiful outdoor setting. Reach out and I’ll get you on my calendar!
